Do you feel like you're going round in circles... and you're always exhausted? You're working 50, 60, 70 hours a week with little result. You're always on stand-by, you can't take days off... and it's not working. Can you do more? What would you say if I told you you needed to do less?
Do less to get more. Unlikely as it may seem, this is the magic recipe. To do less means to stop running around in circles, to stop running every time the phone rings and someone asks for an appointment, to stop making a priority of secondary tasks.
Top Leaders work hard, but I'm willing to bet they work fewer hours than most of you. Firstly, they don't work seven days a week; they've understood the importance of the day off. Secondly, they've created and follow an action plan, they've learned to prioritize their tasks every day; this means they're ready to do what needs to be done when it needs to be done... even if it doesn't always suit them. And that's probably where the problem lies, because in most cases, you know what you should be doing. Despite this, most brokers get caught up in emotional and dramatic games; "No, but you don't understand, it's complicated" or "You should have seen what the customer told me" or "But I had no choice, the customer absolutely wanted..." and so on.
Let's put things into perspective. What is your mission? What's your goal today, this week, this year? Where do you want to go? If you don't have a clear goal, you'll be running around in circles doing all sorts of tasks, most of which have no priority. If you know where you want to go, it's easy to be empowered, energized, committed and, above all, not to let yourself be beaten down every time something goes wrong.
Imagine... knowing why you get up in the morning... and getting excited about it! Imagine being powerful... regardless of the attitude of one or more customers. Imagine following your schedule. Imagine making an appointment today. Imagine showing qualified buyers around and selling today. Imagine that being in action is a lot easier than you think.
Imagine... and have a nice day.
